How much does Roblox take from UGC sales?
Roblox takes 30% of the sale price as a platform fee. The remaining 70% is split between you (creator royalty) and any affiliate commissions.
What about affiliate sales?
If your item is sold in a game (like 'Catalog Avatar Creator'), the game owner gets a 40% commission, which comes out of the platform's cut, not yours.
Do limiteds have a holding period?
Yes. When you buy a Limited UGC item, you must wait 30 days before you can resell it. This holding period prevents instant flipping and market manipulation.
How much does it cost to upload?
As of March 2026, uploading a 3D accessory costs 300 Robux. Uploading 2D clothing (shirts/pants) requires a 10 Robux upload fee + 10 Robux publishing advance and an active Premium 1000/2200 subscription.
Do I get the upload deposit back?
Yes! Roblox uses a 'Publishing Advance' system. Once your item sells enough copies to cover the publishing advance, Roblox rebates it. This encourages creators to make high-quality items that actually sell.
Can I sell clothing without Premium?
No. As of March 2026, you (and the Group owner, if selling under a group) must have an active Premium 1000 or 2200 subscription to publish or sell 2D avatar items.
Can I sell free items?
Yes, you can list items for free (0 Robux), but you will not earn any revenue, and you will not get your publishing advance rebated. This is mostly used for promotional events.
